The Panama Wilt Disease

Panama Wilt Disease, caused by the Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense tropical race 4 (FocTR4) fungus, has devastated global banana cultivation, causing massive economic losses in countries like Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and China.

The disease first severely outbreak in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, India, affecting over 10,000 hectares of banana crops. Southern Indian states also face problems with the race 1 strain in native varieties.

The fungus enters plants through cuts and wounds, multiplying rapidly and consuming vascular tissue. As it spreads, it disrupts nutrient uptake and distribution, ultimately causing plant collapse and death.

Conventional chemical fungicides have limited effectiveness in preventing the disease and can harm beneficial soil microorganisms. The widespread impact of this disease highlights the urgent need for sustainable and effective control measures to protect banana crops worldwide.

Why Panamakure?

EasyKrishi discovered Trichoderma Reesei, a special strain from high-stress areas. This strain fights the harmful Fusarium oxysporum fungi very well.

EasyKrishi made a unique bio-fungicide from this strain. We call it Panamakure.

It’s the best in the country for fighting banana wilt disease caused by Tropical race 4. We tested it in labs and fields.

  • It worked great in problem areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The success rate was 85-92% over two years.
  • The product also helped with cumin wilt in Jodhpur.
  • It even worked on different types of banana Panama wilt in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

This discovery is a big step in protecting crops from harmful fungi.
